MRSA VIRUS-BACTERIA
Just to note that MRSA is a bacteria and not a virus. MRSA is a drug-resistant type of a very common bacteria called Staphylococcus aureus. For simplicity though we will refer to it as the MRSA virus.
As common as the MRSA virus is to hospitals it still remains a very serious threat to health. The MRSA virus is the first in a new breed of superbug, resistant to all common antibiotics.
Gone are the days when you entered a hospital ill and returned home fit and well. MRSA can be hospital acquired. , Some people are harmed while in hospital by infections caused by the MRSA virus, for example. One hospital had to close its baby unit after all 17 patients caught the virus
The bacterium will grow immune to drugs such as Vancomycin in time, in fact this is already seen to be happening, which is why scientists are working flat out to produce alternative antibiotics that the MRSA virus is not immune to. The majority of those who die in hospital with the MRSA virus are also critically ill with other conditions. Hospital Infection.
Infectious diseases such as the MRSA virus poses a more deadly threat than war.
The government is claiming success with official data revealing that the incidence of the MRSA virus is at its lowest level since 2001. We shall see.
